Help with Canto School lessons, audio, progress, and review.

Does Canto School need an account?

No. Your learning progress is stored on your device.

Does it use the microphone?

Only when you press or hold the microphone control labeled Hold to speak in a Speak it activity. The app makes a short temporary recording so you can use Hear mine to replay your attempt and, on supported iPhones, checks it with Apple's on-device Cantonese recognizer. The attempt is not uploaded and is deleted when you retry or leave; an active attempt is discarded if the app leaves the foreground. If private checking is unavailable, local recording and replay still work when microphone permission is granted. If you cannot speak, choose Quiet (announced as Quiet instead by VoiceOver) to build the same phrase with tappable words. Quiet practice does not access the microphone and remains active for later speaking activities in that lesson.

Can I use the course offline?

The course and approved audio ship with the app. Private speaking checks work only when the device already supports on-device Cantonese recognition; they never fall back to an online recognizer. Opening these pages or contacting support requires an internet connection.

How do I delete my progress?

Open Profile, choose Reset course progress, and confirm. This deletes current progress and migration backups on that device. Uninstalling also removes local data.

Audio is not playing

Check device volume and audio output, disconnect an unintended Bluetooth device, and restart Canto School. Include the phrase or lesson name if you contact support about a recurring problem.
